D.I.V.A.A. need only apply

I was so excited this month because I started making time for my own personal development. I set in my calendar 1 hour to listen to trainings, or tele-seminars. I am investing in myself and I really see and feel the difference. There is so much great information, tips, and techniques out there. There is no excuse for not dedicating time to build yourself up.

I had a team member who expressed to me that she believed that she was very strong in sales but she lacked what she needed in recruiting. I went into my files and pulled out an ebook from Caterina Rando, Recruiting With Ease http://www.directsalescoaching.com/ssrecruitingwithease.htm.  I started reading and listening to the CDs.  I started coaching with her using some of Caterina's systems. We completed only the first weeks training and by the next week, my team member had recruited two people. WOW!!

In the training she talks about finding the best possible people to join your team. She uses the acronym of  D.I.V.A.A. for the type you want to look for. Decisive, influential, visionary, Action-oriented, and Attitude (of course positive). That really got me excited because that means that I'm going to be intentional about the type of consultant I recruit. Not just that they are human, over 18 and have a pulse.

I'm looking for business builders like myself. I am a DIVAA and I'm looking for other DIVAAs who want to join me.   I am so excited! Every day I look forward to my hour of training. It's like going back to school. I can't wait to get to my personal development class. I just happens to be in my living room. You don't get any better than that.

Being Intentional

Being intentional is so important in this business. I think I've heard it a million times but I don't always operate my business with intention. I find myself floating from one thing to the next before I finish my goals.

My husband is a master handy man. I love that I have a man who can fix stuff. The problem is that he stops when 95% of the work is done. He'll say, "Oh I just have one more thing to tighten or screw in and it's done." I'm always confused as to then why doesn't he do that last thing so he can mark it off as complete? Why leave it uncompleted?
I realized that I do the same thing in my business. I may have  set a goal of 5 people to call  and I have one more prospect to talk to and I don't complete the task. I'll stop at the 4th person. I was listening to Belinda Ellsworth's training CD, "Recognizing and Rising Above Self Doubt". She described me to a Tee. I am a person who "Resigns", that means I stop or quit before I've finished my goals. When I heard this the light bulb really went off above my head.
If you would have asked me I would have told you that I am not a quitter. Now taking a look at my actions I now see that yes Michelle you are a resigner!
I am now making the commitment to work with intention to complete my goals. I will have success and will complete the task at hand.

It took intention for me to complete this blog .

Make it a great & successful day!!

No Man Is An Island

One of the most powerful things in direct sales is that you are in business for yourself but not by yourself. Why are you trying to do this alone? We all need a good support system. An accountability partner and/or a coach. You need someone to help you stay accountable. Someone who can push you further or celebrate your success with you. I find so many times that we are trying to do this by ourselves. We don't want to reach out and say that we need help or support. Together Each Achieve More- T.E.A.M! It is a team effort.

Move pride out of the way or being afraid to show we don't know it all. Trust me, the top consultants in your company don't know it all either. Industry experts don't know it all either. We all can learn something new. Be a sponge and ask everyone for tips and their best practices.

Look in your company for someone you can partner with. I have several different accountability partners. This way I keep on reaching my goals. I listen to training seminars and I try learn as much as I can from everyone.
Stop trying to do it alone and get it done with support.

I know you can do it. I'm here to support & encourage you.

Boiling Hot

Did you take off for the holidays or did you continue to stay working? It is so important to be consistent with your business. If you take a break you have to use a lot more energy to get going again.

It's like boiling water. You fill up the tea kettle with cold water and you put it on the stove. The water is warming up but, it takes awhile. Then when it's hot and begins to boil, then your water is scolding hot. If you turn off the fire for a few minutes and then go to heat up that water again it will already be warm so, it will get to the boiling stage much quicker this time. It is the same for your business.

I see it time and time again, holiday season and especially summer season, people check out on their business. Then it takes them 2 months to build up their momentum again. Keep the fires burning. Keep the Open for business sign lit.

Don't let yourself get cold. Stay warm, hot or boiling.

Stay cookin'
