Investing in you

Last week I drove two hours to upstate New York to attend a training of Karen Phelps www.karenphelps.com. It was a training that a leader Kim DiLeo in Partylite conducted for her team. She ended up opening the event up to other direct sellers so we could attend this training too. I was so excited to be in that room.

I am a student for life. If you are in an industry or career you must learn from the bests. I always liked to learn. I can remember the most exciting part of school was when I got my new class schedule. I would ask the past students of that teacher how enjoyed the class. To this day I am the same. My church Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn NY is a teaching ministry. You'll see the congregation with their notebooks and ipads out taking notes. I love to learn.

Seeing Karen live and learning from her experience was priceless. I am so happy I got the opportunity to invest in myself. I feel a new sense of clarity and drive. I left with practical tools that I implemented in my business immediately.  I know that it was worth the time, effort and financial stretch to get there and to be in the room with Karen.

When you get these opportunities to attend a tele-a-seminar, training, or your company's convention, you should take the opportunity. You should invest in you. We have a lot of reasons why not to do something but I challenge you to say yes. Make the commitment and go. Our lives are only lived once and this is not a dress rehearsal this is SHOW TIME. Get the information and support you need to make your business a success. Start to invest in yourself. You are worth it & your business is too.

In the race

I feel like I am always busy. If I'm not doing something for my family, or friends, then it's something for the business. I spend a lot of time doing busy work but I had to ask myself what am I really completing. You can do a lot of things but are your producing results? Are you taking action or are you just preparing to take action?

I am part of a mentoring group and we prepare a weekly schedule so we know what we have to do in regards to our business. Our coach holds us accountable for a certain amount of hours dedicated to our direct sales business. I looked at my schedule this week and I realized I don't have a lot of action items on the schedule. I'm scheduled for this training or that conference call but am I producing sales from these activities. Direct sales trainer,  Debrena Jackson Gandy calls it "IGA" Income Generating Activities. How many IGAs do I have on my schedule?

I spend a lot of time getting ready but I need to spend more time in ACTION. I had the privilege of seeing Alvin Day speak at a conference and he said, "Our business is like a race. You can imagine the announcer saying On Your Mark, Get Ready... but there is no GO! We stay stuck at Get Ready!" I am committing today to not just be busy but to take action.

I don't want to watch the race from the sidelines I want to WIN!
On Your Mark, Get Set, GO!

Direct Seller Motivation: People are talking

Direct Seller Motivation: People are talking: "I remember when I became a direct sales business owner and I launch my business, I was so excited. I shared with everyone what I was doing. ..."

People are talking

I remember when I became a direct sales business owner and I launch my business, I was so excited. I shared with everyone what I was doing. You could not be in my circle without me sharing a lotion or potion with you. I would wait for their reactions, they would say, "Oh this smells good!" I loved it.

As my business has grown and now that I'm home full time with my business it is interesting that the same people in my circle have changed their reactions. "Oh here Michelle comes with her lotions and potions!" "When are you going back to work?" "When are you going to get a real job?"

WOW!

People's reaction to how you are living your life may not always be positive. They might not understand why you are selling your cookware, jewelry, or makeup, when you have a Masters degree or a licence to practice law.
I believe that what's important is that your QUALITY of you life is better. The TIME FREEDOM that you now. And the EXCITEMENT of doing something that you enjoy. These are the biggest benefits you  have with direct sales business. You deserve a more abundant life and that is what direct sales can offer you. It is freedom from the RAT RACE. You can get to the finish line of the race and still have your sanity.

Let people talk. It's OK! It may be tough sometimes but you still need to press towards YOUR dreams. I remember a trainer telling me to stop listening to people who are not living the life you are trying to live. If they are broke, unhappy and miserable why should you take advice from them?
It's YOUR LIFE and YOU ONLY GET ONE. Make it the BEST!
